Gateway Capital Management (“GCM”) is an investment club managed and funded by students at the University of Richmond. The group seeks to attract top-performing students of all class years who have demonstrated a strong desire to learn more about finance and the financial services industry. The fund implements a 130/30 investment strategy, shorting no more than 30% of the portfolio value and going long using the original portfolio value plus cash received from short sales (see Investment Strategy Detail section). Though the fund’s primary focus is investing, it also serves as an informal career mentorship program for its undergraduate members who have daily interactions with upperclassmen members (see Career Development section). Alumni relations are an integral aspect of the group’s success as well.
